Edward II: Building Communitylinks about faq connect support
About Edward II Edward II is a supportive housing project for young adults.

The project is a collaborative effort between Community Housing Partnership, Larkin Street Youth Services and the Mayor's Office of Housing.

Many of the residents at Edward II are transitioning out of foster care or homelessness, and will receive nurturing and structured guidance on a variety of subjects including employment/job training, education opportunities, and life skills. This housing project has been undergoing public review since 2009.

Current plans call for 24 units of permanently affordable housing to be developed at the Edward II site at 3155 Scott Street. Read more here.

Community Ties Thank You For Standing With Our Youth!

WE DID IT!!

Last night, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted 10-1 to approve the Edward II project, approving our Special Use District and denying the two appeals that would have dismantled the project.

We prevailed, and this victory is entirely yours to own.  Thank you to the tremendous community of housing advocates, service providers, tenants, youth, Marina and Cow Hollow neighbors, elected officials, small business owners and religious leaders who have consistently turned out in droves to vocalize their support for the Edward II project.  Thank you for sharing your stories and vouching for the incredible work that we are going to do together.

Because of you, we will be adding 24 units of safe, clean and affordable housing for at-risk youth, where they will receive job training, case management and education support. Ultimately, we will be a large part of city plans to create 400 units of Transition Age Youth housing throughout San Francisco, with the goal of getting our young people off the streets and poised for success.

This is how we build community, and you are an extraordinary part of that.

We would like to give a special acknowledgement to Supervisor Farrell and his office for their work convening neighborhood representatives and working to find a way to make everyone happy.  Even though some neighbors were unable to agree on a compromise, we also appreciate the many hours of dialoguing they invested.  We are looking forward to continuing a partnership with every neighborhood resident, and hope to see neighbors engaged in mentoring and supporting the Edward II goals of community building.

Finally, a special thank you to Supervisor Chiu for carrying the Special Use District, and to his office for their leadership and hard work seeing it through to the end.

Thank you!

Building Together,
